Bear with me — some aesthetics act like infections. You might have caught it years before it expressed itself (n.b. I don’t mean to compare this band or album in any way to a herpes breakout). When Dogtown and Z-Boys came out in 2001 (! — fuck) the adolescent population was quickly infected. Lying dormant for 12 years, it’s expressed in this album’s instant nostalgia for summers past. Unlike the original Z-Boys, this summer won’t be recorded on Kodachrome, but with Instagram through heavy vintage filters. Take a spin and you’ll pine for the facsimile of your own lost Dogtown summer, whether you’ve had one or not.
